The CD Dodd Perth Thunder are pleased to announce the signing of 22-year-old Canadian winger Jake Gilmour, son of former Toronto Maple Leafs legend and Hockey Hall-of-Fame member Doug Gilmour. Gilmour spent time in the Ontario Hockey League with the Kingston Frontenacs, before most recently playing with the Niagara Falls Canucks in 2017, where he scored 20 points in 34 games. Gilmour joins the team after taking part in the USA vs Canada Ice Hockey Classic in Sydney and Melbourne, and General Manager Stan Scott is excited with the energy he’ll bring to the Thunder line-up. ”Jake is a big, fast guy who is an excellent skater,” Scott said. “I think he’ll inject plenty of energy in to our line-up.” With the Thunder currently facing the prospect of missing thei first finals series since 2014, Scott hopes Gilmour’s injection would spark the team to a run of victories. ”Obviously the team isn’t producing the way we want to right now,” Scott said. “We think Jake coming in to the line-up will give us the spark we need to turn the tide.” Gilmour arrives in Perth on Tuesday. You can get your tickets to the weekend series against the Adelaide Adrenaline here. |
