The CD Dodd Perth Thunder are excited to announce our fourth import signing for the 2019 AIHL season, 25 year old Canadian forward Louick Marcotte.
Marcotte has just completed his 2018-19 season playing in the LNAH (Ligue Nord-Americaine de Hockey) with Riviere-Du-Loup 3L alongside fellow Thunder forward Keven Veilleux, scoring 18 goals and 15 assists for 33 points in 34 games.
Marcotte is a veteran of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) having appeared in 277 regular season games and amassing 255 points over five seasons, starting with the Prince Edward Island Rocket, where he spent three seasons, before joining the Val-d’Or Foreurs and playing a key role in their 2013-14 QMJHL campaign.
Marcotte scored 100 points in 67 regular season games, second in team scoring to current Detroit Red Wings forward Anthony Mantha, and added 37 points in 24 play-off games, leading Val D’Or to the QMJHL championship and a Memorial Cup appearance.
Marcotte played his final year of junior for the Gatinaeu Olympiques, where he served as team Captain in 2014-15, scoring 76 points in 63 games, a season that resulted in him signing a three-year deal with the NHL’s Calgary Flames as an undrafted free agent.
Following his junior career, Marcotte has spent three seasons playing in the East Coast Hockey League for the Adirondack/Wichita Thunder, Fort Wayne Comets and Wheeling Nailers, scoring 48 goals and 52 assists for 100 points in 167 games.
Thunder General Manager Stan Scott believes Marcotte’s skill set will complement the Thunder top line perfectly.
“Louick has been an elite scorer throughout his career,” Scott said. “He brings elite skill and experience in leadership to the line-up; we believe he’ll fit in well.”
Louick Marcotte and the Perth Thunder open the 2019 AIHL season this Saturday, 27th April when they host the Melbourne Mustangs at Perth Ice Arena. Get your tickets here
