The CD Dodd Perth Thunder have endured a tough road trip to New South Wales, finishing with a deflating 6-1 loss at the hands of the Newcastle Northstars on Sunday night. Missing key forwards Louick Marcotte and Andrew Cox through suspension, the Thunder had no answer for the strong Northstars line-up, with AIHL leading scorer Sammy Banga leading the way with a four-point night. Keven Veilleux scored the only Thunder goal on assists from Alastair Punler and Jamie Woodman, while Nico Viksten was busy in net, making 27 saves on 33 shots, while the Northstars defence restricted the Thunder to just 20 shots on net. The result ends a disappointing weekend for the Thunder, with just one point gained in the standings, leaving the team seven points adrift of the top four nearing the halfway point of the season. The team returns home for a series against the Adelaide Adrenaline on June 29-30. You can get your tickets here. |
