The CD Dodd Perth Thunder have survived a scare from last-placed Adelaide Adrenaline on Saturday night to skate away with a 4-2 win at a Ice ArenA in Adelaide.
Two goals each to Ben Breault and Kieren Webster were enough for the Thunder as Nico Viksten recorded his best outing for the season, stopping 40 of 42 shots as the Adrenaline won the shot count for the first time this season.
The Thunder started strong, getting two goals on the board in the first 4 minutes of the game and setting the tone for the rest of the weekend.
Adelaide was able to get one back, putting the score at 2-1 going into the first break.
Webster added another goal halfway through the second period, before Adelaide was awarded a penalty shot in the last minute. Viksten stood tall in net, shutting down the opportunity.
The majority of the third period was scoreless, with Adelaide netting their second and final goal with 6.29 remaining. Breault responded with his second of the night to end the game and put the Thunder in fine spirits for Sunday’s face off. |
