It is with regret we announce that, after a five-game stint with the Thunder, import forward Jake Gilmour has returned to Canada to rehabilitate a knee injury sustained during training.

Gilmour tallied nine points in five games as the Thunder’s fifth import signing for season 2019, and was heading to France to tryout for his first professional contract when the injury occurred.

“Unfortunately I tore my Medical Cruciate Ligament (MCL) in training and due to this injury I’ll be returning home to complete my degree and rehabilitate my knee,” Gilmour said in a message to perththunder.com.au.

Gilmour said that he loved the city and the laid-back WA lifestyle.

”I spent a lot of time at Trigg Beach playing guitar with Nico Viksten and surfing with Rob Haselhurst,” Gilmour said. “I loved it, it’s a beautiful city.”

The club would like to thank Jake for his service to the team over the past few months, and for making us a part of his Australian adventure, which began as a member of Team USA in the Ice Hockey Classic.

The club also wishes Jake a speedy recovery from his injury, and the best of luck as he seeks to complete his Sports Management degree at Brock University.
