Perth Thunder Captain Sam Wilson is expected to miss six weeks of AIHL action after sustaining an injury during the weekend series against CBR Brave. Wilson had made a solid start to the season after moving to defence, tallying three assists in six games this season, but suffered a break in his arm that will see him miss a substantial portion of the season. Until now, Wilson had played in every one of Perth Thunder's 116 AIHL regular season and finals games. Forward Andrew Cox will captain the Thunder throughout Wilson's absence, his first chance to captain the Thunder, while Anthony Nottle will fill the void Wilson leaves in defence for the trip to Adelaide this weekend. The club would like to extend it's best wishes to Willo for a speedy return to the line-up. In other injury news, defenceman Per Daniel Goransson will also miss the trip to Adelaide with a slight muscle tear, but is expected to return for the home series against Melbourne Ice on May 28. |
