In response to the Bushfire tragedy currently engulfing the Eastern states, the CD Dodd Perth Thunder have decided to dedicate this year’s charity match, to be held Saturday June 27 2020 against the Melbourne Mustangs, to bushfire recovery and awareness, as well as celebrating fire and rescue volunteers. The match will focus on raising much-needed recovery funds, as well as supporting the Western Australian Bush Fire Service (BFS), Volunteer Fire and Emergency Service (VFES) and Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service (VFRS), under the umbrella of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES). The CD Dodd Perth Thunder family, along with countless others around the world, have been devastated to read about and watch the bushfire crisis that is currently affecting large areas across Australia. The unprecedented magnitude of this event has shocked everyone in the Perth hockey community, and the Thunder will contribute to making a difference in what will be a lengthy recovery process. There will be activities and interactive exhibits inside and outside the rink on game day, as the club looks to promote and celebrate those who volunteer their time and energy to keep us safe. More information on what fundraising activities will take place will be available closer to the date. The CD Dodd Perth Thunder are proud to be throwing their support behind a group of organisations that undertake such exhaustive community work, and encourage all fans to give what they can to these organisations in their time of great need. |
