The first period quickly turned into a duel between the two net minders as Peter Di Salvo continued to impress the home fans, and frustrate the opposition.
The Thunder recorded 14 shots in the opening twenty minutes, however the period ended with no one having opened the scoring.
The second period was a similar affair, however this time the Thunder were able to net a goal, and give themselves the lead as Jessyko Bernard popped one over the shoulder of Kimlin.
This gave the game it’s only goal as the two teams headed into the final frame, but Rob Haselhurst doubled the Thunder lead with a terrific end-to-end rush goal early in the third.
In a similar fashion to the previous match, the Bears once again were able to tie up the game late, this time it was Jackson Brewer who scored the game-tying goal with just 1.11 left in regulation.
Only one goal was scored in the shootout following play, with Ben Breault netting the Thunder's game winning goal.
Having split an important series at home, the team heads into Newcastle where they look to take on the leagues reigning champions on the road next weekend.
