Thunder 4 - Northstars 1

The CD Dodd Perth Thunder have started their trip to New South Wales in the best possible fashion, defeating the Newcastle Northstars 4-1 on Saturday night.

New arrival Christian Ouellet found the back of the net twice in the third period as the Thunder scored three goals in the final five minutes to break a 1-1 tie and come away with the win.

The Thunder had 25 shots on net for their four goals, while Peter Di Salvo continued his outstanding form, stopping 33 of 34 Newcastle shots to stretch his run to 11 AIHL games without being beaten in regulation.

Ben Breault and Jessyko Bernard also found the back of the net, with both of them recording two-point nights, while Per Daniel Goransson also registered an assist.

The Thunder travel to Sydney on Sunday to take on the Bears in the final of their four match-ups for the year.
