A five-goal third period from the Sydney Bears has handed the CD Dodd Perth Thunder their first loss in regulation for season 2017, as the home side won 8-4 in Sydney on Sunday night.
The import line was firing once again, with Jessyko Bernard tallying four points on the night (two goals, two assists) while Ben Breaults three points (1G, 2A) extended his point scoring lead for the Thunder, taking his tally to 12.
Christian Ouellet also tallied a goal and an assist, while Per Daniel Goransson registered two assists and Captain Jamie Woodman one assist.
The Thunder took an early 2-0 lead through breakaway goals from Jessyko Bernard and Ben Breault, before the Bears scored four straight goals to take a 4-2 lead by the two minute mark of the third period.
Bernard scored his second of the night three minutes in to the third period to reduce the margin to 4-3, but three goals in less than two minutes from the Bears shut down any hope of a Thunder comeback.
Christian Ouellet continued his solid debut weekend, scoring a late goal to tally his fourth point of the weekend.
The Thunder now face a standalone game against the Newcastle Northstars at home next Sunday afternoon. You can buy tickets here
