A three-goal first period has propelled the CD Dodd Perth Thunder to a dominant 5-1 victory over the Newcastle Northstars at Perth Ice Arena on Sunday night.
Ben Breault scored two goals as part of a three-point night (2G, 1A), while fellow imports Jessyko Bernard (1G, 2A) and Christian Ouellet (3A) also each scored three points as Thunder's offence dominated the evening.
Jonathon Bremner also found the back of the net for his second goal of the season, while Per Daniel Goransson scored on the power play, Jamie Campbell scored his first point of the season and Andrew Cox also tallied an assist.
The Thunder had a 41-31 edge in shots on net, but Peter Di Salvo came up big in the third period, stopping 18 of 19 Northstars shots in the period as the road team made a push for victory.
Both teams now take a break for the AIHL All-Star Weekend in Melbourne, with the Thunder being represented by Jamie Woodman, Rob Haselhurst, Ben Breault and Christian Ouellet.
The Thunder now sit in second place in the AIHL standings, and the next home game will be on June 10 against the third-placed Melbourne Ice. Tickets always sell fast against the Ice, so secure your seat by clicking here.
