The trip to Canberra was not a happy one for the CD Dodd Perth Thunder, falling in a pair of games to the CBR Brave at Phillip Swimming and Ice Skating Centre on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday was a spiteful encounter between the two teams, with Keven Veilleux and Joey Hughes each being assessed match penalties for fighting in the third period, while Louick Marcotte was assessed three separate roughing penalties as the teams went toe to toe in the physicality stakes.
Despite being engaged physically, the Thunder weren't able to turn that in to goals as the Brave ran rampant in a 7-0 victory.
Sunday started a lot better for the Thunder, with Kieren Webster continuing his hot form to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead.
The Brave responded with four straight goals through a hotly-contested second period, before Tomek Sak hit back for the Thunder to continue an impressive streak of local scoring form.
Unfortunately that was as good as it got for the Thunder, as the Brave added two more goals to take a 6-2 decision and sweep the season series against the Thunder.
The action returns to Perth Ice Arena for one game only this Saturday as Thunder ex-pat Jonathon Bremner and the Melbourne Ice come to town. The action starts at 4.30pm, and you can get your tickets here.
