The Perth Thunder imports have been lighting the lamp lately, carrying the team through the second half of the season, and while there's a lot spoken about Ben Breault and Michael Dorr with their multi-point games and All-Star exploits, possibly the most key piece in the top line gets somewhat forgotten in the mix.
Jessyko Bernard has made an enormous impact on the Thunder since his arrival in May, playing a variety of roles as he's pushed his way to 40 points in 24 games (16 goals, 24 assists).
The big Canadian plays mostly as the centre on the top line, sitting between Dorr and Breault and setting the table for those two to score at will, but also finds himself playing at the point on the power play and up front on the top penalty kill.
Possibly the most impressive part of Bernard's season lies in the Thunder-record 23-game scoring streak he's currently on.
Bernard has only been held without a point once in his Thunder career, his first game just hours after landing in Australia, a 1-0 win over the Melbourne Mustangs at Perth Ice Arena, highlighting a remarkably consistent season.
While he's happy to throw the body around when required, and has provided the Thunder fans with a highlight reel of hits this season, Bernard has also become renowned for his one-time shots on the power play, and his signature power move to the backhand when he's able to break through a defence.
A continued point streak from Bernard would go a long way towards bringing the Goodall Cup to Perth in season 2016.
