Dave Kenway has released a statement to announce he's stepping down as head coach of the Thunder to take up a newly-created role as the Thunder's Director of Hockey.
Kenway cited family and business reasons in his statement confirming he was stepping down from the position, and Thunder General Manager Stan Scott was thankful to the head coach for his time in the role.
"Dave did a fantastic job as Head Coach leading us to the finals in back to back seasons," Scott said. "He brought a lot of stability and his commitment to the cause and the club could not be questioned."
"Though we are sad to see him step down, we as a club are very excited to have Dave take on the role of Director of Hockey, a position we believe will really take our club forward and secure player development and progression.”
In his role as Director of Hockey, Kenway will be involved in player development and recruitment with the Thunder, acting as a player liaison, as well as coordinating hockey camps and development sessions for local players and fans.
