The Perth Thunder will get a chance to match up against their semi-final nemsis the Newcastle North Stars to kick off the 2017 Australian Ice Hockey League season in Perth.
It was confirmed this morning that the Thunder will face the North Stars on April 23rd at Perth Ice Arena to start to 2017 campaign, with the AIHL releasing the full schedule for season 2017.
The Thunder will get an early chance to check out the newly renovated Macquarie Ice Rink in Sydney, with a weekend series against the Sydney Bears and Sydney Ice Dogs on the first away weekend.
For the first time in the Thunder's short history, the regular season will conclude on home ice, with a weekend series against the Adelaide Adrenaline on August 26-27 capping off the 2017 season.
The 2017 All-Star weekend will take place at O'Brien Group Arena in Melbourne on June 3-4, while the 2017 AIHL Finals series will take place on September 2-3 at a venue to be determined.
