The CD Dodd Perth Thunder have maintained their early unbeaten record in season 2017, defeating the Sydney Ice Dogs at Macquarie Ice Rink in Sydney on Saturday night.

Per Daniel Goransson was credited with the game-winning goal, as the Thunder rallied with a three-goal second period after going down 1-0 early on the road.

After Sydney scored the lone goal of the first period, Jordy Kyros levelled the scores early in the second with his first AIHL goal since August 2015, before Goransson put away the game-winner.

Jessyko Bernard, in his first game for the season, scored in the second period as the Thunder took a 3-1 lead in to second intermission, before Kieren Webster iced the game with a late goal.

Ben Breault tallied two assists, while Alastair Punler, Lynden Lodge, Jonathon Bremner and Liam Jeffries also assisted on Thunder goals.

Ben Breault took a boarding penalty during the third period and was assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct, meaning he'll be suspended for one game and will miss Sunday's match-up against the Sydney Bears.
